Bengaluru: The outrage among job aspirants in Karnataka has peaked. Despite approximately over 1.5 lakh government posts lying vacant across various departments in the state, the Congress government has completely failed to fill them. The opposition's main allegation is that the government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah gave job-seeking youth not just empty promises, but only lathi charges (police beatings).
The department-wise details of the vacant posts highlight the government's negligence:
| Department | Estimated Number of Vacant Posts |
| Education Department | 80,000 |
| Health Department | 37,000 |
| Revenue Department | 10,000 |
| Rural Development Dept. | 10,000 |
| SC Welfare Department | 10,000 |
| Total | 1,47,000+ |
"The breach of promise by the state's @INCKarnataka government has once again exposed it as a factory of lies. The government of the lying @siddaramaiah gave job aspirants who asked for government jobs nothing but lathi charges!" - Opposition Statement.
The Government: A 'Factory of Lies'
Opposition parties have severely criticized the Congress government, stating that the promises of creating millions of jobs before coming to power have turned into a mere 'breach of promise' after taking office.
On one hand, departments essential to the state, such as Education and Health, have massive vacancies of 80,000 and 37,000 respectively. This has led to a decline in state services, causing severe hardship for citizens.
On the other hand, the failure of the government to give a proper response to youth who took to the streets demanding employment, and instead resorting to lathi charges on protesters, has been criticized as showing the government's autocratic approach.
Question: When will the 2.5 Lakh Posts be Filled?
While the currently available statistics show approximately 1.5 lakh posts vacant, opposition parties have directly questioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah: "Mr. Siddaramaiah, when will the 2.5 lakh vacant posts be filled?"
Political analysts believe that the delay in filling this huge number of vacancies is severely weakening the government's administrative machinery and doing injustice to the state's youth resource. The demand of every citizen in the state is for the government to take immediate action to fill these vacant posts to provide justice to the youth and improve governance.
