Ola Engineer Suicide Case: Investigation Transferred to CCB; Awaiting FSL Report

In the complaint filed by the deceased's brother, Ashwin Kannan, it was stated that K. Aravind, a Homologation Engineer at Ola Electric, committed suicide on September 28, 2025.

Bengaluru:The State Government on Friday informed the Karnataka High Court that the investigation into the suicide case of an engineer working for Ola Electric has been transferred to the Central Crime Branch (CCB). The government also stated to the court that it would take at least one month for the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report to arrive. A single-judge bench of Justice Mohammed Nawaz heard the petition filed by Ola Electric company owner Bhavish Aggarwal and two others, seeking the quashing of the FIR registered at the Subramanyanagar police station on charges of abetting the suicide of employee K. Aravind.

One Month Required: State Government

The advocate representing the State Government requested, "The FSL report concerning the handwriting and fingerprints has not yet been received. The procedure involves first sending the handwriting for FSL examination, and only then sending the fingerprints. This process will require one month's time. The case has now been transferred to the CCB. Therefore, the hearing should be adjourned."Senior Advocate M. S. Shyamsundar, appearing for the petitioners, requested that the interim order previously issued—directing that the petitioners should not be harassed—be extended since the case has been transferred to the CCB.

The bench, after hearing the submissions, ordered, "The FSL report is awaited. The court's previous direction to the police not to harass the petitioners in connection with the case will continue, and the petitioners must cooperate with the investigation," and adjourned the hearing to January 21.

Background of the Case

In the complaint filed by the deceased's brother, Ashwin Kannan, it was stated that K. Aravind, a Homologation Engineer at Ola Electric, committed suicide on September 28, 2025.

* On September 30, the company made an NEFT transfer of $17,46,313$ rupees to Aravind's account.

* When enquired about this, the company representatives, including Kritesh Desai, Paramesh, and Roshan, provided vague financial information, which the complaint states appeared suspicious and an attempt to cover up the company's mistakes.

In the death note, Aravind stated that Subrat Das and Bhavish Aggarwal subjected him to work pressure and harassment by not providing his due salary and allowances. He mentioned he was committing suicide due to distress.Following this, Aravind's brother filed a complaint on October 6. Consequently, a case was registered against Subrat Kumar Das, Bhavish Aggarwal, and Ola Electric under BNS Section 108 read with 3(5).
