Bengaluru: The Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru is once again in the news due to illegal activities. A jail warden has been arrested on charges of attempting to smuggle prohibited items inside the prison.
Based on a complaint lodged by the Prison Superintendent, Paramesh, the police have arrested jail warden Rahul Patil. The action was taken because he attempted to smuggle cigarettes and prohibited narcotic substances.
60 Grams of Prohibited Narcotic Substance Found
The incident came to light yesterday evening around 6:50 PM during a routine inspection conducted by KSISF (Karnataka State Industrial Security Force) personnel near the main entrance of the jail.During the search of Warden Rahul Patil's personal area, two packets of Gold Flake King cigarettes were discovered.
In addition, 60 grams of a prohibited, light paper-like narcotic substance was also found.The staff immediately brought the matter to the attention of senior jail officials. Based on their complaint, a case has been registered at the Parappana Agrahara Police Station.
Accused's Background
The arrested warden, Rahul Patil, had joined the Prisons Department as a warden in 2018. He had previously served at the Belagavi prison and was working at the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail since June 29, 2025. Ironically, this warden, who was on duty, has now been sent to the very same Parappana Agrahara Jail as an accused in a smuggling case.
