In Belagavi, where the winter session of the Karnataka State Legislature is underway, various communities and organizations held protests on Wednesday, pressing for three major demands.

Belagavi: In Belagavi, where the winter session of the Karnataka State Legislature is underway, various communities and organizations held protests on Wednesday, pressing for three major demands. Sri Shankar B. Madalagi, District President of the Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) party, arrived at the sites and expressed his support for all these struggles.

1. Support for Harlayya Community Protest

The Karnataka State Harlayya community was protesting near the Karnataka Legislative Assembly session venue, demanding the fulfillment of their requirements. District President Shankar B. Madalagi visited the protestors and assured them of the JDS's full support for their rightful demands.

2. Participation in Panchamasali 2A Reservation Silent Protest

Sri Shankar B. Madalagi participated in the silent protest demanding 2A reservation for the Lingayat Panchamasali community. During the event, the protestors were detained by the police and later released. Madalagi met with those who were detained and declared his party's consensus with the community's struggle.

3. Voice for the Bailhongal District Movement

On the same day, a significant agitation took place, demanding either that Belagavi district remain undivided (Akhanda) or that if the district is to be split, Bailhongal should be made a separate district.As part of this movement, a meeting was held under the leadership of the Honourable Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and District In-Charge Minister. Present at this meeting, alongside revered religious leaders (Poojyaru), popular MLAs, former MLAs, and leaders of the Bailhongal District Agitation Committee, was JDS District President Shankar B. Madalagi. The demand to make Bailhongal a district was strongly presented during the meeting.

Overall, during the Winter Session, Shankar B. Madalagi participated in the three major social and administrative movements of the district, showcasing his party's active role in the region.
