Renowned senior actor, director, and writer of the Malayalam film industry, Sreenivasan, has passed away at the age of 69. He had been suffering from ill health for several years and breathed his last as treatment proved ineffective. His demise has created a huge void in the Malayalam film industry. Sreenivasan had been facing health issues for many years. Due to this, he had not been very active in films in recent years. Recently, his health deteriorated further, leading to hospitalization. Sreenivasan was born on April 6, 1956, in Kerala's Kannur district. After graduating in Economics, he received film training at the Film and Television Institute in Chennai. He entered the film industry as an actor in 1976 with the film Manimuzhakkam.
Working in the film field for nearly four decades, Sreenivasan contributed to more than 200 films. Most of these were produced in Malayalam, with appearances in only a few Tamil films. He last acted in 2018.
Along with acting, he also established himself as a screenwriter and director. He directed films starring prominent actors like Mammootty and Nivin Pauly. He also produced two films.
