The Return of the "Digital Locker"
Movies Anywhere is a popular "digital locker" service that allows users to centralize their movie purchases. By linking accounts from different retailers such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Vudu users can buy a movie once and watch it on any platform.

What Caused the Split?
The disruption began on October 31, 2025, following a carriage agreement dispute between Disney and Google-owned YouTube TV. During the fallout, Google was removed as a participating retailer on Movies Anywhere, and Disney-owned films were briefly delisted from Google storefronts.
However, following a series of successful negotiations and the renewal of broadcasting contracts, the two companies have "played nice" again, paving the way for the full restoration of the movie-syncing service.
How to Get Your Library Back
While the services are back, the synchronization is not automatic for everyone. To restore your library, follow these steps:
Open the Movies Anywhere App or visit the official website.
Navigate to Settings and select Manage Retailers.
Locate Google Play/YouTube and click Connect.
Log in to your Google account to verify the link.
