A fresh language controversy has flared up in Mantralayam, the renowned pilgrimage site located on the Andhra Pradesh-Karnataka border.

The board at the front of the Math displays the sacred verse "Poojyaya Raghavendraya Satyadharmaratayacha..." in Kannada script.

This signboard is not new it has been there for decades.Recently, however, some Telugu speakers on social media have protested, arguing "Mantralayam falls in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.Also Read: Stray Dogs' Menace in Belagavi: Couple and Children Escape by a Hair's Breadth..!

Therefore, priority should be given to a Telugu signboard here."The dispute has spread beyond the local level and is making waves in the digital world.

This has sparked a verbal battle between language enthusiasts from both states. Kannadigas counter that Sri Raghavendra Swamy was originally from Karnataka and that Madhva tradition maths have an inseparable bond with Kannada.
