On the first day of New Year 2026, an atmosphere of devotion and celebration enveloped the temples along the Karavali coast.

On the first day of New Year 2026, an atmosphere of devotion and celebration enveloped the temples along the Karavali coast. Particularly at Mangalore's renowned and historic Kadri Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple, throngs of devotees poured in, welcoming the new year with the Lord's blessings.

Thousands of devotees queued up from early morning to have darshan of Lord Manjunatha. Special poojas and prayers were organized by the temple authorities for the fulfillment of devotees' wishes. A unique feature of Kadri Temple is its natural water sources—the seven sacred ponds located uphill, where devotees took purifying holy baths (punya snana), believing it brings great merit.

Not just locals from Mangalore, but tourists and pilgrims from various districts across the state flocked to Dakshina Kannada. With the backdrop of Christmas and year-end holidays, many had stayed at coastal beaches and resorts.
