Hyderabad Woman Nikitha Murdered in US: Father Alleges Money Dispute as Motive

The murder case of Nikitha Godishala (27), a Hyderabad-based woman in Maryland, USA, has taken a significant turn.

New York/Hyderabad: The murder case of Nikitha Godishala (27), a Hyderabad-based woman in Maryland, USA, has taken a significant turn. Her father, Anand Godishala, has leveled serious allegations against Nikitha’s former roommate, Arjun Sharma, claiming he killed her over a financial dispute.

Background of the Incident:

The incident occurred on New Year's Eve (December 31) in Columbia, Maryland. Nikitha had been working in the US for the past four years. Following reports that Nikitha had gone missing on January 2, the police conducted a search of her apartment, where they discovered her body with multiple stab wounds.

Serious Allegations by the Father:

Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, Anand shared several explosive details:

* Financial Dispute: He clarified that this was not a romantic dispute but a financial one. Arjun Sharma had reportedly borrowed a significant amount of money from Nikitha.

* Fled to India: When Nikitha demanded her money back before her planned trip to India, an altercation broke out. Anand suspects that Arjun stabbed her to death and has since fled to India.

* The Last Call: Nikitha had last called her father on the night of December 31 to wish him a Happy New Year. That was the last time they spoke.

Deception by the Accused:

In a shocking twist, after allegedly committing the murder, the accused Arjun Sharma himself filed a missing person's report with the police. He claimed he had "last seen Nikitha on January 2, after which she disappeared." However, the truth emerged during the police investigation.

Loan Amount Details:

According to information provided by Nikitha's cousin, Saraswati, to the Indian Embassy, Arjun had borrowed approximately $4,500 (around ₹4.07 lakh) just a few days before the murder.

Family's Appeal:

"I request the State and Central governments to help bring my daughter's body back to India as soon as possible and ensure the killer receives the harshest punishment," pleaded the grieving father.
