The Miracles of Mahaguru Sri Raghavendra Swamy of Mantralaya: The Saint Who Resolves Devotees' Sorrows Even Today!

"Poojyaya Raghavendraya Satyadharma Ratayacha..." As soon as this chant is heard, the image of the beautiful Mrittika Brindavana in Mantralaya flashes before the eyes of devotees.

"Poojyaya Raghavendraya Satyadharma Ratayacha..." As soon as this chant is heard, the image of the beautiful Mrittika Brindavana in Mantralaya flashes before the eyes of devotees. Sri Raghavendra Swamy, who entered Sajeeva Brindavana (entering the tomb while alive) about 350 years ago, continues to bless millions of devotees through his mystical powers and miracles.

Here are the details of some thrilling miracles that occurred during the Guru's life and those that continue even today:

1. The Miracle of Bestowing Literacy to Venkanna

One of the most famous miracles of Rayaru (as the Saint is affectionately called) is the story of the innocent boy, Venkanna. Once, while walking on a road, officials of the Sultan handed a letter to Venkanna and asked him to read it. Venkanna, who was illiterate, prayed to Rayaru. By the Guru's grace, he was not only able to read the letter but became highly knowledgeable from that moment onwards. Later, this same Venkanna became a great devotee and was instrumental in the establishment of the Mantralaya Mutt.

2. The Significance of the Mantralaya Site

Why Rayaru chose Mantralaya for his Brindavana is a great miracle in itself. It is said that in his previous incarnation as Bhakta Prahlada, he had performed a Yajna (sacred ritual) at that very spot. Due to the power of that sacred soil, it is believed that even a dried tulsi stalk planted there sprouted into a plant upon being touched by Rayaru.

3. The Sajeeva Brindavana and British Officer Thomas Munro

In the 1800s, a British officer named Thomas Munro came to Mantralaya to seize the land belonging to the Mutt. History records that Rayaru emerged from the Brindavana in his spiritual form, spoke to him in English, and explained the sanctity of the Mutt. Following this encounter, Munro became a devotee and returned the land rights to the Mutt. This record is still available in the Madras Gazetteer.

4. The Miracle of Eternal Annadana (Food Distribution)

Continuous food distribution (*Annadana*) takes place for thousands of devotees who visit Mantralaya. No matter how many people arrive, there is never a shortage of food. Often called "Rayara Akshaya Patra" (the inexhaustible vessel), this constant food supply is one of the greatest miracles occurring even today. Many devotees also share experiences of being cured of chronic illnesses through the intake of sacred Mrittika (soil from the Brindavana) or through sincere vows.

How to Seek the Grace of Rayaru?

Chanting the mantra: *"Om Sri Raghavendraya Namaha."**

Taking a holy dip in the river Tungabhadra and having a Darshana* of the Brindavana.

Making a Sankalpa* (vow) with unwavering faith and devotion.

Although Rayaru is not physically visible to our eyes, he remains a pillar of support for the faith of his devotees, standing true to his promise: "I will remain alive in this Brindavana for 700 years." He is revered as the Guru who never fails those who believe in him.
