“People Have Sent Home Those Who Demolished My Office”: Kangana Ranaut Lashes Out at Shiv Sena

MP Kangana Ranaut has lashed out at her political detractors, stating, "The people of Maharashtra have kicked out those who demolished my home and threatened me.

Mumbai: MP Kangana Ranaut has lashed out at her political detractors, stating, "The people of Maharashtra have kicked out those who demolished my home and threatened me." Her comments came shortly after the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction suffered a massive defeat in the Mumbai Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

The BJP achieved a historic victory in the BMC, the country's wealthiest municipal corporation. Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on this occasion, Kangana described the win as "not just a political victory, but justice for the unfairness I faced."

Kangana Rejoices Over BMC Defeat

In 2020, while the undivided Shiv Sena-led coalition was in power, BMC officials demolished a portion of Kangana’s office in Bandra. The Bombay High Court later ruled this action "illegal." Expressing joy over the Shiv Sena losing power in the BMC after 25 years, Kangana said, "The people have shown the right place to those who displayed misogyny and goondaism against me. Truth has finally triumphed."

'Mahayuti' Alliance Tsunami in Maharashtra

Beyond Mumbai, the BJP-led 'Mahayuti' alliance recorded a landslide victory across Maharashtra, including in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Overall Standings: Out of a total of 2,869 wards across the state, the alliance won 1,843 seats.

BMC Results: In the 227-ward Mumbai corporation, the BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) alliance secured a clear majority with 116 seats.

Other Parties: The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction was restricted to 73 seats, while the Congress won 24. Both factions of the NCP (Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar groups) appeared lackluster in this election.

Break in the Thackeray Family’s 25-Year Hold

For the last two and a half decades, the Thackeray family held an absolute monopoly over the BMC. This election result marks the beginning of a new chapter in Mumbai politics. The BJP's victory poses a significant challenge to the future political survival of the Thackeray lineage.
