BJP-JD(S) Alliance Finalized for GBA Polls? Major Announcement by H.D. Kumaraswamy

Following the Supreme Court's mandate to conduct the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) elections by June 30, political activities in the capital have intensified.

Bengaluru: Following the Supreme Court's mandate to conduct the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) elections by June 30, political activities in the capital have intensified. It is now almost certain that the BJP and JD(S) will fight the elections as an alliance to defeat the Congress.

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy made a significant statement, declaring, "Let us face the GBA elections as an alliance," effectively clearing the air regarding any confusion over the partnership.

An End to Confusion

Previously, JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda had stated that the party would contest local body elections independently. This had created a cloud of uncertainty among party workers about the future of the alliance. However, the unprecedented victory of the BJP-led 'Mahayuti' alliance in the Maharashtra local body elections has infused new energy into the coalition partners in Karnataka. Both parties have now decided to adopt a similar strategy in Bengaluru.

Key Decisions from the JD(S) Meeting:

Alliance is Essential: It was concluded that a joint fight by the BJP and JD(S) is inevitable to counter the influence of the Congress party’s 'Guarantee' wave and its administrative machinery in Bengaluru.

Seat-Sharing Discussions: Leaders from both parties are expected to meet soon to finalize ward-wise seat-sharing arrangements.

Joint Struggle: Kumaraswamy has called for a united protest against the alleged failures in Bengaluru's development and discrepancies found in the voter lists.

New Heat in the Election Arena

Following the BJP's historic victory in the Mumbai BMC, the BJP-JD(S) combine has formulated a strategy to seize power in all five city corporations of Bengaluru. This development is set to pose a formidable challenge to the ruling Congress government.
