Major Twist in Karwar Richel Suicide Case: Parents Allege Assault, Claim It Wasn't Just Suicide

The parents have demanded that the body, which has already been buried, be exhumed from the grave for a second post-mortem to bring out the truth.

Karwar: The death of a young woman named Richel D'Souza, which occurred on January 9 under the Kadra police station limits, has taken a serious turn. Initially considered a routine case of suicide, the complaints now being filed by her parents have completely changed the direction of the investigation.

Serious Allegations by Parents

Reena Christod D'Souza, the mother of the deceased, has submitted a fresh petition to the police, mentioning several shocking details:

Injury Marks: Multiple injury marks were found on Richel's body.

Suspicion of Assault: The family strongly suspects that she was subjected to physical and sexual assault.

Not a Simple Suicide: The family argues that this was not merely a suicide due to harassment, but involves a deeper conspiracy.

Demand for Re-Postmortem

The parents have demanded that the body, which has already been buried, be exhumed from the grave for a second post-mortem to bring out the truth.

"To ensure justice, all family members have consented to exhume our daughter's body. The facts must be established scientifically," the family stated.

Involvement of a Political Leader's Son?

The case has gained a new dimension with the mention of a JDS leader's son. The victim's family fears that because influential individuals are involved, the police might misdirect the investigation. Consequently, the public is demanding a completely transparent probe into the entire matter.

Background of the Incident

On January 9, 2026, Richel was found dead at her residence. The funeral was held the very next day at the St. Anthony's Church cemetery in Kadra. However, the pain she allegedly suffered before her death and the marks on her body have now pushed the family to launch a legal battle.
