In a significant generational shift, Nitin Nabin was formally declared the 12th National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. At 45, Nabin has become the youngest leader ever to head the world’s largest political party, succeeding J.P. Nadda.
Addressing a packed gathering at the party headquarters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the new chief with a powerful statement of organizational discipline. "When it comes to the party, Nitin Nabin ji is the boss, and I am a mere party worker," the Prime Minister declared, emphasizing the BJP's tradition of placing the organization above individual stature.
The "Millennial" Leader for a Developed India
Describing Nabin as a "millennial" leader, PM Modi highlighted that the 45-year-old belongs to a transition generation that has witnessed India's evolution from the era of radios to the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Generational Bridge: "He possesses both youthful energy and extensive organizational experience. His leadership comes at a crucial time as we build a Viksit Bharat over the next 25 years," PM Modi said.
NDA Coordination: The Prime Minister noted that Nabin’s role extends beyond managing the BJP; he is also tasked with ensuring seamless coordination among all NDA allies.
