As with every year, the achievers of Karnataka have been honored with the 'Padma Shri', one of the nation's highest civilian awards, in recognition of their selfless service and hard work.

As with every year, the achievers of Karnataka have been honored with the 'Padma Shri', one of the nation's highest civilian awards, in recognition of their selfless service and hard work. In 2026, seven individuals from Karnataka have been awarded the Padma Shri, while one eminent personality (Shatavadhani R. Ganesh) has been conferred with the Padma Bhushan.

Brief Profile of the Awardees

* Ankegowda M. (Mandya): A rare book lover who, while working as a bus conductor, collected over 1 million books and established a massive library called 'Pustaka Mane' (House of Books) in Pandavapura, Mandya district.

* Dr. Suresh Hanagavadi (Davanagere): Dedicated his life to providing free treatment and raising awareness for patients with Haemophilia. He has helped thousands through the 'Karnataka Haemophilia Society'.

* S.G. Susheelamma (Bengaluru): For the past five decades, she has been a pillar of support for orphaned children and women in distress through the 'Sumangali Seva Ashrama'.

* Shubha Venkatesh Iyengar: A scientist at the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), she is credited with developing 'Drishti', a technology that provides critical weather updates at airports.

* Prabhakar Kore: As the Chairman of the KLE Society in Belagavi, he has brought about revolutionary changes in the field of education.

Padma Bhushan Honor

In addition to this list, Karnataka's pride, Shatavadhani R. Ganesh, has been announced as the recipient of the Padma Bhushan for his unparalleled contribution to the fields of Literature and Arts.

The President of India will confer these awards upon the achievers at a special ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in March or April 2026.
