Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, expressed high confidence on Tuesday that Karnataka would secure significant allocations in the upcoming Union Budget.
Speaking to reporters in Hubballi on January 27, 2026, the Minister emphasized that the NDA government remains committed to ensuring a "fair and equitable" distribution of resources to all states, with a special focus on Karnataka's ongoing developmental needs.
"A Paradigm Shift in Funding"
Minister Joshi highlighted a drastic increase in central funding for Karnataka under the Modi administration, specifically citing the railway sector as a prime example of the government’s commitment.
Railway Revolution: "During previous regimes, Karnataka used to receive a mere ₹700–₹800 crore for railway projects. Today, we are providing ₹8,000 crore. Isn't this a bumper gift for the state?" Joshi remarked, questioning the opposition's narrative on central neglect. Sonos Era 100 | Smart Speaker with WiFi, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa - Black
Infrastructure Growth: He claimed that the NDA government has achieved more in terms of infrastructure and sector-wise development in the last five years than what the Congress accomplished in sixty years.
Commitment to the Mahadayi Project
Addressing the long-standing water dispute, Joshi reiterated the Centre's firm stance on the Mahadayi Project.
"The Union Government is fully committed to the implementation of the Mahadayi project. I do not wish to play politics on this sensitive issue; our focus is purely on fulfilling the promise made to the people of North Karnataka," he stated.
