Bengaluru: Sandalwood actor Mayur Patel has been taken into police custody after causing a series of accidents while driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred near the Commando Hospital signal on Old Airport Road, where the actor’s high-speed vehicle rammed into multiple cars.
What Happened?
On Wednesday night, around 10:00 PM, actor Mayur Patel was driving his Fortuner SUV. As vehicles had stopped at the Commando Hospital signal, a heavily intoxicated Patel, driving recklessly and at high speed, crashed into a car from behind. The impact was so severe that it triggered a chain reaction, leading to a serial collision of multiple vehicles.
Four Cars Damaged:
A total of four vehicles were damaged in the pile-up, including two Swift Dzire cars, a government vehicle, and Patel’s Fortuner. During the investigation, it was also discovered that the insurance for Mayur Patel’s car had already lapsed.
Drunk Driving Confirmed:
Ulsoor Traffic Police arrived at the scene and took Mayur Patel for a medical examination. The breathalyzer test returned positive, confirming that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The police have seized his Fortuner and registered a case at the Ulsoor Traffic Police Station.

Financial Distress: "I pledged my wife's gold ornaments to buy this car. The EMI is due on the 5th of this month. How will I survive now that my car is wrecked?" Srinivas cried.
Immediately after the accident, Mayur Patel reportedly stepped out of his vehicle and tried to downplay the situation, saying, "I am film actor Mayur Patel; I will get it fixed by morning." However, seeing the extent of the damage, the owners decided to file a formal police complaint.
