Valmiki Should Be Worshipped Before Ayodhya Rama: MP Sunil Bose Sparks Controversy

A statement made by Chamarajanagar MP Sunil Bose regarding the Sri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has sparked a fresh controversy.

Mysuru: A statement made by Chamarajanagar MP Sunil Bose regarding the Sri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has sparked a fresh controversy. He has become the center of a heated debate after stating, "Maharshi Valmiki should be worshipped before offering prayers to Rama."

Valmiki is the Creator of Rama: Sunil Bose’s Reasoning

Speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed Valmiki Bhavan at Ketahalli village in T. Narasipura taluk of Mysuru district, the MP recalled that it was Valmiki who introduced the Ramayana to the world.

"Maharshi Valmiki is the creator of Rama. Given this, a statue of Valmiki should have been installed in Ayodhya before the construction of the Ram Mandir. According to protocol, the creator, Valmiki, should have been worshipped first, followed by the worship of Rama," he opined.

Immense Contribution of Shudras to Society

Highlighting the contributions of various communities, he asserted that Shudra and Dalit communities have played a monumental role in India's cultural and administrative history.

Ramayana: Maharshi Valmiki, who created the character of Rama, belonged to the Shudra community.

Mahabharata: Maharshi Vyasa, who chronicled the life of Krishna, belonged to the Bestha (fishermen) community.

Constitution: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who gave the Constitution—the pillar of modern India—hailed from the Dalit community.

"If we exclude one specific class, almost everyone else in society is a Shudra. It is this Shudra community that has given the world great epics, scriptures, and the Constitution," he said, emphasizing the identity and legacy of the Shudra communities.

Political Stir

The MP’s remarks concerning the Ram Mandir have triggered intense debate across political circles. A tug-of-war has started on social media platforms over whether Rama is greater in the context of devotion or if Valmiki holds precedence as the literary creator.
