The election for the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, one of the most important bodies of the Kannada film industry, was held today (January 31). Both voting and counting were completed on the same day. The presidential contest saw a tough competition between Jayamala and Bhama Harish. Out of a total of 813 votes cast, Jayamala secured 512 votes, registering a decisive win. Earlier, she had served as the President of the Film Chamber in 2008.
The election process began in the morning, with several prominent actors and technicians from the Kannada film industry participating in the voting. Actors like Shivarajkumar, Dali Dhananjaya, and Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar were among those who cast their votes. Ahead of the election, a brief altercation occurred during a meeting over the use of microphones, leading to heightened curiosity and tension around the election. However, the process concluded peacefully, with Jayamala emerging as the winner.
For the Honorary Vice President posts, Sundar Raju (Producers), K. Manju (Distributors), and Kishore (Exhibitors) were elected. The Secretary positions were won by A. Ganesh (Producer), Ramesh (Distributor), and Ashok (Exhibitor). Jayasimha Musuri was elected as the Treasurer.
With the new leadership in place, there is strong optimism within the industry that the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce will guide the Kannada film industry toward growth and positive transformation in the coming days.
