Hosapete: The world-renowned Mylara Lingeshwara Karnikotsava (prophecy festival) was celebrated with great fervor today at the sacred site of Mylara in Hoovina Hadagali Taluk of Vijayanagara district. On the holy day of Bharat Hunnime (Full Moon), the prophecy delivered by the Goravayya has ignited new hope and dreams of prosperity among the people of the state.

In the presence of lakhs of devotees, this year’s divine word was proclaimed:

"Ambali rashige muttina gini samruddhiyaytale Parak!" (A pearl parrot has abounded in the heap of Ambli!)

What does this prophecy mean?

Analysts and elders have described this year's Karnika (prophecy) as an extremely auspicious sign.

Heap of Ambli (Ambali Rashi): Ambli (porridge) represents the staple food of the common man. The "heap" suggests that there will be no shortage of food grains this year. It symbolizes that the farmers' harvests will be bountiful and their granaries will be full.

Abundance of the Pearl Parrot: The "Pearl Parrot" is a symbol of peace and economic growth. It signifies that the state will receive good rainfall, making the agricultural sector profitable. The prophecy carries the hope that people's lives will flourish and the economic situation will improve.

The Goravayya Proclaims the Future from the Bow

Following ancient tradition, the Goravayya (the priest/oracle), Sri Ramappa Ajja, climbed a high bow and, looking toward the sky amidst a sea of devotees, announced this year's divine word. The chants of "Parak... Parak..." from the devotees echoed throughout the Mylara shrine.
