In view of the upcoming assembly elections, as part of the ‘Booth Vijay Abhiyan’ organized by the Assam BJP, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the residents of Booth No. 32 in the Jalukbari assembly constituency on Thursday.
Key Highlights of the Campaign:
Hoisting Flags: Under this campaign, BJP workers will visit every house in every booth. With the permission of the family members, they will hoist the BJP flag on their houses.
Consent Mandatory: The Chief Minister clarified that no flag will be hoisted without the explicit consent of the family.
Scale: Sarma stated that this flag-hoisting drive will commence today across approximately 28,000 booths in the state.
Election Background:
Elections for the total 126 seats of the Assam Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held in 2026, as the term of the current assembly ends in May 2026. Although the Election Commission of India has not yet announced the official dates, the BJP has already intensified its campaign strategy. The previous 2021 assembly elections were conducted in three phases.
