NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious 'PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana' is creating a new revolution in India. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, announced that a massive subsidy of ₹16,000 crore has been activated under this scheme so far.

Solar Power in 28 Lakh Homes

Briefing the media in New Delhi, the Minister stated that India has achieved a new milestone by empowering more than 28 lakh households with solar electricity as of February 2026. By installing solar panels on their rooftops, citizens are not only accessing clean energy but also significantly reducing their electricity bills.

India Towards Self-Reliance in Energy

The PM Surya Ghar scheme is driving the country toward energy self-sufficiency. The key objectives of the scheme include:

Zero Electricity Bills: Reducing the monthly power expenses of the common man.

Carbon Emission Reduction: Encouraging the use of eco-friendly and green energy.

Farmer Empowerment: Through the PM-KUSUM scheme, farmers are becoming financially stable by generating solar power on their lands.

Decentralized Power Generation

"India is transforming into a clean energy nation today. By emphasizing decentralized solar power generation, energy efficiency has improved, leading to direct savings for the common public," expressed Minister Pralhad Joshi confidently.
