The temple doors will close at 9:00 AM. Darshan will be permitted only after 7:45 PM. A special 'Eclipse Shanti Homa' will be performed on March 4th.

Bengaluru: Just ahead of the Ugadi festival, a rare "Kethugrastha Blood Moon" (Lunar Eclipse) is set to occur on Tuesday, March 3rd. Since the eclipse will begin in the afternoon and conclude in the evening, the doors of most major pilgrimage centers in the state will remain closed during this period.

Eclipse Timings:

Eclipse Starts: 3:10 PM

Eclipse Ends (Moksha Kala): 6:47 PM

Information on Major Temples in Bengaluru:

In the capital city, devotees will be allowed for Darshan only after the conclusion of the eclipse at these prominent temples:

Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple: The temple doors will close at 9:00 AM. Darshan will be permitted only after 7:45 PM. A special 'Eclipse Shanti Homa' will be performed on March 4th.

Banashankari Temple: No special pujas will be held during the eclipse. Regular pujas will resume after 7:00 PM.

Kadumalleshwara Temple: Doors will close at 11:00 AM and reopen at 7:30 PM.

Doddagannapathi Temple: The temple will open for devotees at 7:45 PM after the eclipse concludes.

Bande Mahakali Temple (Special): Interestingly, this temple will remain open even during the eclipse. A special Homa and ghee application (Abhisheka) for the Goddess will be performed during this time. There is open access for devotees to have Darshan.

Details of Other Major State Shrines:

1. Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala:

The following changes have been made to the Darshan timings at the famous Manjunatha Swamy shrine in Dakshina Kannada:

Morning: Darshan available only from 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Afternoon: Darshan will be suspended from 1:30 PM until evening.

Night: Darshan will resume as usual after 7:30 PM.

2. Chamundeshwari Temple, Mysuru:

Devotees will not be allowed for Darshan from 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Post-eclipse purification rituals of the sanctum sanctorum will be performed before reopening.

Instructions for Devotees:

Devotees traveling from distant places are requested to plan their trips keeping these changed timings in mind. Following tradition, temples will be purified and rituals performed after the eclipse ends; public entry will be granted only after these ceremonies.
