Bidar: The prestigious BRIMS District Hospital has once again turned into a hub of mismanagement. Patients arriving for emergency care are forced to wait for hours just for an X-ray, leading to intense public outrage against the failure of the district administration.
Background of the Incident
Anand Karabale, a resident of Aurad town, recently attempted suicide by hanging. After receiving primary care at the Aurad Taluka Hospital, he was shifted to Bidar's BRIMS Hospital for advanced treatment. However, even a man battling between life and death was left struggling without proper medical attention here.
The Struggle for X-ray: Officials' Apathy
Due to the suicide attempt, Anand's condition was critical. While doctors recommended an X-ray, the facility was not available on time, leaving his relatives in a state of panic. When frustrated relatives called the Director of BRIMS, Shantala Koujalagi, it is alleged that she did not answer the call, and someone else responded instead.
Furthermore, when the District Health Officer (DHO) was informed of the situation, the relatives claim he gave a reckless response, stating, "I have nothing to do with BRIMS." Such negligent behavior from officials in responsible positions has drawn severe criticism from the public.
Daily Plight at BRIMS
Hundreds of poor patients from various parts of the district visit BRIMS daily. However, for several days, patients have been struggling for basic facilities, including X-rays. "When we come from distant towns for treatment, the staff behaves like goons with us," lamented the relatives of the patients.
Public Demand
The public has demanded that the District Collector take strict action against the BRIMS staff and officials providing irresponsible answers. Citizens are urging the authorities to streamline the X-ray system immediately and ensure that those arriving for emergency treatment do not face such life-threatening hurdles.
