According to the order issued on March 4, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has been granted temporary permission to host matches, including the opening ceremony. This decision follows a period of uncertainty regarding whether Bengaluru would host IPL matches this season after previous safety concerns.

Key Conditions and Safety Measures:

  • Progress Reports: KSCA must regularly submit progress reports to the government regarding the implementation of safety measures.

  • Crowd Capacity: The stadium capacity is reportedly capped (around 35,000) to prevent overcrowding.

  • Gate Widening: Based on the expert committee’s suggestion to widen gates to 6 meters, KSCA has proactively expanded them to 9 meters to ease entry and exit.

  • Safety Oversight: The government reserves the right to withdraw permission if any safety rules are violated.

  • Cunha Committee Compliance: The government has strictly ordered the implementation of safety protocols recommended by the Justice Michael D'Cunha Committee, which was formed following a stampede incident during previous celebrations.

  • Infrastructure Work: Ongoing development work must continue without compromising the safety of the spectators during match days.

With these measures in place, fans can look forward to a safer and more organized IPL experience in Bengaluru starting this March.
