Is it wrong to name Indian movies after gods? What does the Censor Board say? Here is the information

In India, it is common to name everything from people to businesses after gods. However, recently the Censor Board has been taking a stricter approach regarding the use of divine names for movie titles. Incidents where the titles of films like “Saraswati” and “Hey Bhagwan” were changed have sparked a new debate in the film industry.

In India, the names of gods hold a special place. Not only people, but shops, businesses, vehicles, and even garbage trucks are often named after gods. Many people believe that using the name of a deity brings good fortune and blessings. However, in recent times, the Censor Board has been handling the issue of naming films after gods more cautiously, which has become a topic of discussion.Arayna Women's Cotton Printed Floral Straight Kurta with Palazzo Pants and Dupatta

Recently, there have been examples where the Censor Board asked filmmakers to change movie titles because they contained the names of gods. One such example is the film “Saraswati” starring actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. Although the movie tells the story of an ordinary woman, the Censor Board asked the makers to change the title because “Saraswati” is the name of a goddess. Later, the film was allowed to release after the title was modified to “S. Saraswati.”

Similarly, the title of the recently released film “Hey Bhagwan” was also changed. The word “Bhagwan” was replaced with “Hey Bhagwant.” However, if the film’s story is directly related to God or devotion, using the name of a deity usually does not create issues. For example, the movie “HanuMan” used the name of a deity but did not face any problem.Sangeetha: Thalapathy Vijay Prepared to Pay ₹250 Crore Alimony! Details Here

Because of such incidents, some people are questioning whether the Censor Board is being overly cautious about religious matters. Some critics say that filmmakers are now taking extra care when dealing with religious topics. At the same time, discussions are also taking place about how films that criticize society or systems sometimes face more obstacles.

Overall, it appears that decisions regarding the use of divine names in movie titles are often made based on the situation rather than clear rules. As a result, this issue continues to be widely discussed within the film industry as well as among audiences.
