Officials from the Food Department and the Police uncovered the illegal transport of rice meant for the government’s Annabhagya scheme. During the inspection, officials found approximately 35,060 kg of rice in the truck. The rice, which belongs to the Annabhagya scheme meant for public distribution, was being illegally transported from Chitradurga in Karnataka to Solapur in Maharashtra.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Amresh Tandur, Assistant Director of the Vijayapura Food Department, Food Inspector Vijaykumar Gumashetti, and PSI Mahesh Sankh. A case has been registered at the Jalanagar Police Station in Vijayapura, and further investigation is currently underway.
