Salient features

The primary focus of the budget is the technology driven growth, infrastructure, and inclusive of ecological sustainability. It also enhances allocation for the AI centers in Bengaluru. World Bank funded programs for flood prone areas, GST rate rationalization on state collection and finally Leopard Rehabilitation Center.

With CM’s phrase worth mentioning here, “turn fire into light”, CM emphasized on innovations technology and science, which eventually help us to retain Bengaluru’s Silicon Valley status.

As regards the impact of GST rate rationalization implemented last fiscal year (2026-2026), Karnataka’s GST collection come down from 10% to 4 %, thus concluding tax restructuring will reduce overall GST collections.

 

Summary of The budget for the fiscal year 2026-2027

·        Total 16 crores is allocated to set two centers collaborated with Institute of Bioinformatics and applied Bio-Technology. The center for Cellular and Molecular Platforms and NASSCOM. This will be the state-of-art AI center of excellence for Bengaluru.

·        5 Crores allocated for Leopard Rehabilitation Centre at Bannergatta Biological Park

·        5000 crores allocated for flood management in coming 5 years. The project will be undertaken by KWSRP (Karnataka Water Security and Resilience Program), this would World-Bank funded initiative.

·        Revised digitalized transfer rules of the Excise department. It also includes the transfer of C cadre officials include Excise inspectors and sub-inspectors, also excise constables and head constables. To bring in transparency and to enhance efficiency
