In the 2026-27 state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, several significant projects have been announced for the development of minorities.

Bengaluru: In the 2026-27 state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, several significant projects have been announced for the development of minorities. Under the theme "Empowerment for All, Unveiling Opportunities, Building a New Karnataka," substantial funds have been allocated for education and the holistic development of these communities.

Increase in Number and Capacity of Hostels

To facilitate higher education for minority students, the government has decided to start 25 new post-metric hostels with a capacity of 150 students each. Additionally, the intake capacity of 25 existing hostels will be increased by 50 students each.

10 New Residential Schools in the name of Shishunala Sharifa

In honor of the harbinger of harmony, Saint Shishunala Sharifa, 10 new residential schools will be established. These schools will follow the CBSE curriculum to provide high-quality education. An allocation of ₹10 crore has been made for this project in the current financial year.

Upgradation of Schools at a Cost of ₹400 Crore

The government is set to well-equip and develop 100 Maulana Azad Model Schools and Urdu schools across the state. A massive sum of ₹400 crore has been earmarked to upgrade these institutions into K.P.S. (Karnataka Public School) model schools.

₹100 Crore for Development of Jain, Buddhist, and Sikh Communities

The government has announced a major grant of ₹100 crore for the comprehensive development of the Jain, Buddhist, and Sikh communities. Notably, measures have been taken to provide a monthly honorarium of ₹6,000 to Buddhist Dhamma Charis. Overall, this year’s budget marks a significant step toward strengthening the education of minority youth and fortifying the cultural roots of these communities.
