Bengaluru: In the 2026-27 state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, high priority has been given to the healthcare of the state's citizens. Under the motto "Empowerment for All, Unveiling Opportunities, Building a New Karnataka," a massive grant has been announced to strengthen the infrastructure and emergency medical services of the Health Department.

₹900 Crore Grant for Infrastructure Development

The government has set aside ₹900 crore to develop government hospitals across the state and upgrade the infrastructure of the Health Department. This will ensure that well-equipped medical services reach people in both rural and urban areas.

'Trauma Care' Services in District and Taluk Hospitals

With the aim of saving lives during accidents or emergencies, it has been decided to upgrade all district and taluk-level hospitals in the state. At a cost of ₹45 crore, medical equipment and devices for emergency departments, advanced operation theaters, and ICUs will be supplied in a phased manner to provide comprehensive Trauma Care services.

Sweet News for Children Suffering from Type-1 Diabetes

The government has taken a significant decision to improve the health of children suffering from diabetes. Free insulin pens will be distributed by the government to children under the age of 18 suffering from Type-1 Diabetes. This will provide major financial relief to poor and middle-class families.

Drive to Fill 2,500 Posts

The government is moving forward to address the staff shortage in the Health Department. CM Siddaramaiah has announced that 2,500 various vacant posts in the department will be filled soon. This will enhance the efficiency of hospitals and ensure patients receive timely treatment. Overall, this year's budget strengthens the state's health infrastructure while including deeply humane and pro-people announcements for the well-being of underprivileged children.
