For many years, there has been debate about charging parking fees at cinema halls and multiplexes. Many people argued that since cinema ticket buyers are already customers, parking facilities should be provided free of charge. Now, the Telangana High Court has delivered an important verdict on this issue.Arayna Women's Cotton Printed Floral Straight Kurta with Palazzo Pants and Dupatta
According to the High Court's order, single-screen cinema halls and multiplexes are strictly prohibited from collecting parking fees from audiences coming to watch movies. Through this verdict, the court has cancelled some previous rules and given clear instructions for the convenience of moviegoers.
Earlier, the Telangana government had ordered that parking fees should not be collected from those coming to watch movies. However, after COVID, single-screen theatre owners appealed to the government, and some exemptions were granted. Only multiplexes continued with the parking fee exemption.
Recently, hearing a petition filed on this matter, the Telangana High Court clearly stated that neither single-screen halls nor multiplexes have the right to mandatorily collect parking fees from those coming to watch movies. However, this rule is not currently in force in Karnataka. Here, those going to watch movies have to pay parking fees at the cinema hall or multiplex. Especially in some multiplexes in Bengaluru, parking fees range from 80 to 100 rupees per hour. By the time a movie ends, the parking charge can amount to around 200 to 300 rupees.
Therefore, many audiences are expressing the opinion that a similar rule should be implemented in Karnataka as in Telangana. If such a decision is enforced, it will provide greater convenience to those going to watch movies.
