Bengaluru: As the countdown to the IPL fever begins, BMRCL is considering some "sweet news" for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans and cricket enthusiasts. Serious discussions are underway to provide free metro travel for those heading to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to watch the matches.
Show Your Ticket, Travel for Free!
A plan is being formulated to allow IPL match ticket holders to travel without purchasing a separate metro ticket. This offer would be available on match days for travel from any metro station in the city to the Cubbon Park Metro Station and back.
QR Code Technology:
To simplify the process, there are plans to integrate a special QR code onto the IPL match tickets. Passengers would be able to simply scan this QR code at the metro station gates for seamless entry and exit. Officials from BMRCL, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and the RCB management are currently in talks regarding this.
Discussions in Preliminary Stages:
According to BMRCL sources, the proposal for free travel is currently in the initial stages of discussion. A final decision will be announced after reviewing the feasibility of the plan. This move aims to manage the heavy crowds expected after the matches and to encourage the use of public transport.
First Match on March 28:
The first match of this IPL season at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium is scheduled for March 28. RCB will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in this opening encounter. While there were concerns about hosting matches at the stadium following a previous stampede incident, preparations are now in full swing after obtaining the necessary clearances.
