Ramadan in Iran vibrant celebration and busy night life, with crowd rushing in the streets of Tehran. Unlike other Islam countries, Iran follows lunar calendar, so the timing and the date vary each year, this year 2026, Ramadan started on 18th and 19th of February.



The days are dull and isolated roads and no crowd can be seen while they are on the festive fasting. As night starts the crowd in each street starts getting warmer. The Tehran City will be filled with mesmerizing moods, all the hotels, restaurants will be jam packed.

In Iran it’s illegal to eat anything in the day time while they are fasting. Strictly no drinking, no smoking and eating till the sunset. This applies to non-Muslims too. Travelers can it discretely.

As soon as the sunset the streets come into life and people hit the hotels to break the Iftar.

Zoolbia and Bamieh are favorite Iranian sweet drink, very popular in Iran and every shop sells this sweet syrup.

Ash Reshteh is a kind of local noodles made of beans and herbs.

Halim, made of wheat, served with meat.

Cultural and religious practices include Laylat al-Qadr. On 19th, 21st and 23rd nights of Ramadan people stay awake throughout the night reciting Quran either at home or at mosque.
