Gadag: The Gadag Rural Police have arrested three individuals for allegedly disrupting the Basaveshwara Fair (Jatra) in Mallasamudra village and assaulting committee members who questioned their actions.
The Incident
The annual Basaveshwara Fair was being celebrated with traditional fervor and grandeur in Mallasamudra village. During the peak of the festivities, as the ceremonial chariot (Ratha) was about to move, Salim and his associates reportedly drove their car into the procession path and parked it, blocking the way. The situation quickly escalated from a verbal spat to physical violence, with the accused reportedly assaulting the committee members. This unexpected clash sparked outrage among the devotees and created a tense atmosphere during the auspicious celebrations.
Arrests Made
Following the incident, the temple fair committee filed an official complaint. Based on the complaint, the Gadag Rural Police registered a case and arrested the primary accused: Salim Badekhan, Lokesh Ramji, and Manjunath Hadimani.
