The D-day of Assam’s election is close by as the opposition have announced their candidates. The speculation and election-winning calculations have changed.

Guwahati, 19the March, the regional Raijor dal and the Congress have finally announced their candidates. The regional party has officially signed the seat sharing mechanism with Congress for April 9th Assembly election in Assam. The party is bringing three Gogois together to fight the present CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and his ruling party. 

The three Gogois are Gaurav, Akhil and Lurinjyoti.

After the persistent conflict in seat sharing, Gaurav Gogoi and the president of Raijor Dal Akhil gogoi announced that Raijor will contest for 13 seats.

Akhil will contest from Sivasagar in Eastern Assam. The constituency from where he was elected in 2021, while he was still in Jail on the charges of sedition in the anti-CAA clashes.

The final opposition camp would consist of Congress, Raijor Dal, Assam Jatiya Parishad, CPI (M) and CPI (ML). Apart from these mainstream political parties, the opposition also includes Bardudin Ajmal of AIUDF.

Luronjyoti Gogoi who was General Secretary of Assam Student’s Union, will contest from Khowang and Gaurav will fight Hitendra Nath Goswami of BJP.

Congress has announced 88 candidates out of total 126 seats.

The election is getting more and more interesting as the combination of candidates is unlike previous elections.
