Winning is the Sole Criterion; Dynastic Politics is Inevitable, says Minister Satish Jarkiholi

As the heat of the by-elections rises in the state, PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi has hit back at the criticisms surrounding 'dynastic politics' regarding ticket distribution.

Belagavi: As the heat of the by-elections rises in the state, PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi has hit back at the criticisms surrounding 'dynastic politics' regarding ticket distribution. He stated that since 'winning' is the top priority for the party in elections, dynastic politics becomes inevitable.

Defending the decision to grant tickets to the Meti and Shamanur families in the Bagalkot and Davanagere by-elections, the Minister indirectly acknowledged that this practice exists in all parties, not just Congress.

Victory is the Ultimate Yardstick

"It is true that there are loyal workers in the party. However, when entering the electoral fray, the candidate's 'winnability' becomes paramount. Since winning is the only criterion in the candidate selection process, such decisions have to be taken out of necessity," he clarified.

Same Path in Other Parties

Attacking the BJP and JDS over dynastic politics, Jarkiholi said, "This practice is not limited to our party alone. Dynastic politics is deeply rooted in both BJP and JDS as well. If you look at neighboring Maharashtra, the children of leaders from all major political parties are at the forefront."

Overall, the Minister's statement—that granting tickets to those with a family background is inevitable for political survival and electoral success—has now sparked a debate in political circles.
