Bengaluru: The movie 'Boss', starring Tanush Shivanna and directed by R. Lava, is currently creating a massive buzz in Sandalwood. Despite being mired in controversies since its inception, the film has successfully completed the censor process and is now gearing up for its theatrical release.
What Caused the Controversy?
Ever since the teaser of the film was released, discussions began that the story closely resembles the life of Challenging Star Darshan. Following Darshan’s imprisonment in the Renukaswamy murder case, allegations surfaced that the film is based on his real-life incidents.
Legal Notice Sent to the Censor Board
Expressing strong objections to the film's title and storyline, Darshan’s lawyers had issued legal notices to both the film team and the Censor Board. Furthermore, it was reported that Darshan’s wife, Vijayalakshmi, and brother, Dinakar Thoogudeepa, personally visited the Censor Board to request that permission for the film's release be withheld.
What was the Censor Board's Decision?
Despite all the high-voltage drama, the 'Boss' film crew has quietly completed the certification process. After reviewing the film, the Censor Board:
Ordered cuts to certain controversial scenes.
Instructed the team to mute several dialogues.
Finally gave the green signal by issuing a 'U/A' certificate.
'Boss' on the Big Screen in April
Having cleared all hurdles, the movie is making grand preparations to hit the screens in April. The controversies themselves have provided massive publicity for the film, sparking curiosity about how it will perform at the box office.
