Manoj Tiwary, MLA from Shibpur and a minister of state for sports, West Bengal, was denied the ticket by TMC as they opted for Dr. Rana Chetterjee as its candidate from the constituency. The 40-year-old minister confirmed that he was approached by BJP.

Manoj Tiwary is yet to decide on his next move and he has not indicated any party so far. The speculation of Tiwary’s move is interesting as his former Bengal teammate Ashok Dinda is already active in BJP, He is now the BJP MLA has been fielded from Moyna in the upcoming polls.
TMC dropped Manoj Tiwary and handed over the ticket to the formal Bengal pacer Shib Shankar Paul for the constituency, Tufanganj.
Tiwary spoke to media and expressed his disappointment on being dropped by TMC. He further remembered the previous election where Mamata Banerjee had kept calling him to join the party and she saw to it, Tiwary joined TMC.
MLA also said he has done good job as MLA in his tenure and people want him back in his constituency.
A right-handed batsman, he played 12 ODIs and three T20s for India, he scored a century in his international career between 2008 and 2015.
