GANGAVATHI: In a bizarre turn of events at Sanapur in Gangavathi taluk of Koppal district, a family has filed a police case against a foreign tourist who had displayed exemplary humanity by paying ₹6 lakh for the medical treatment of a local youth injured in a bike accident.
The Incident
The accident occurred on February 17 in Sanapur village when a motorbike ridden by a foreign tourist collided head-on with another bike ridden by a local youth. The youth, identified as Shantakumar, a resident of Sanapur village, suffered a fractured leg in the crash. The foreign national involved was identified as Jeevish, a tourist hailing from Israel.
The Israeli Tourist’s Act of Humanity
Instead of fleeing the scene in panic, Jeevish stayed back and immediately provided first aid to the injured Shantakumar. He further showed immense humanity by ensuring the youth was promptly rushed to the hospital for advanced care.
Accepting moral responsibility for the accident, Jeevish went a step further and provided a whopping ₹6 lakh in cash to cover Shantakumar's medical expenses. This money was handed over in the presence of prominent village leaders and elders. Shantakumar is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gangavathi.
False Complaint Despite Taking Money? Video Goes Viral!
In a shocking twist to the story, Shantakumar’s family members—who had accepted the ₹6 lakh for treatment—allegedly approached the Gangavathi Rural Police Station and filed a complaint against the foreigner, claiming he had not provided any financial assistance.
However, the family's claims have hit a roadblock as a video showing the Israeli tourist handing over the money in front of the village leaders has gone viral on social media. The act of filing a complaint despite receiving a massive amount has sparked severe public outrage. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Gangavathi Rural Police Station, and the police are currently investigating the matter further.
