Bengaluru: Navigating the monthly budget is about to get a lot harder for the residents of Karnataka. Starting tomorrow, April 1, a series of government-mandated price revisions are coming into effect, hitting citizens right where it hurts.
Here is everything that is going up in price:
Industrial Electricity: The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has unveiled its rate chart for the 2025–26 financial year. While residential slabs have been spared the brunt this time, the commercial and industrial sectors will face hiked rates, raising concerns about operational costs.
Bengaluru Water Supply: Silicon City residents will have to shell out more to the BWSSB, which has approved a 3% hike in monthly water bills for both domestic and commercial connections.
National Highway Tolls: Road trips and logistics will get pricier.
The NHAI’s annual inflation-linked revision means toll plazas will charge 3% to 5% more. Small cars will see a hike of ₹5–10, while heavy commercial vehicles will pay ₹15–40 more per toll. With multiple hikes hitting on the exact same day, citizens are advised to rework their monthly financial plans immediately.
