Koppal: In view of the rising summer heat, the working hours of government offices in the district have been changed starting today (April 1). However, on the very first day of the new rule, the absence of officials and staff at the District Administrative Building was glaringly visible, sparking outrage among the public.
Due to the increasing heat, it was previously ordered that offices would operate only from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM from today until May 31. However, the staff do not yet seem to have adapted to this change in timings.
Only DC Present; Offices Fail to Open!
Although the offices were supposed to start at 8:00 AM, most of the offices in the District Administrative Building had not even opened. Only the District Collector (DC), Dr. Suresh Itnal, was present at the office on time. Meanwhile, key staff and other officials continued their habit of arriving late as usual.
What are the Public's Allegations?
* Work Moving at a Snail's Pace: "For the past two months, no proper work is being done in the offices," expressed the public who came from distant villages, showing strong dissatisfaction.
* No End to Wandering: People expressed anger that they came to the office early in the morning to finish their work before the heat intensified, only to find that the offices had not even opened.
District Collector's Strict Instruction:
Noticing this delay by the officials on the very first day, DC Dr. Suresh Itnal issued a strict instruction that all officials and staff must be present at the office at the scheduled time to ensure the public does not face any inconvenience.
