Amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Wednesday that 1,171 Indian nationals, including 818 students, have successfully exited Iran through land borders.

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the Indian Embassy in Tehran facilitated their movement. Of these, 977 Indians crossed into Armenia and 194 crossed into Azerbaijan.

From there, they are now flying back to India. Most of the students were pursuing medical education in Iran. On the other hand, the Ministry also informed that three Indian nationals were injured in attacks in the UAE on Tuesday. The injuries were caused by shrapnel from drone and missile strikes.

India has expressed gratitude to the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan for their cooperation. The MEA has urged all Indian nationals in the region to remain vigilant and contact the nearest Indian Embassy if needed.
