The average AQI for Bangalore is 57-58, that makes it a moderate category.
The significant pollutants are PM10 (69.18) PM2.5 (65.4).
The uncontrolled construction dust and vehicle emissions are the main hurdles. CES has warned even after avoiding the winter smog of Delhi, PM10 levels are stably high in Silk Board, BTM Layout and Peenya because of infrastructure projects.
Once the Garden City was also called the city of lakes, presently Bangalore is facing severe water quality crisis.
Contamination level shows 40% of Bangalore lakes comes under class E, the poorest water quality category.
Fecal coliform level shows 280 times higher than prescribed bathing standards. The worst affected lakes are Hosakere, Mahadevapura and Sarjapura lakes which are in critical conditions because of untreated sewage inflow.
The other blow to ecology is BBMP has identified 472 acres of encroached lake land, hardly any land was reclaimed.
Noice pollution has witnessed a steep increase than air pollution.
