The Congress high command regarded this as a "grave act of indiscipline" and "malicious slander" against the party’s leadership, resulting in her immediate removal.

Dr. Siddu had retaliated, saying "exposing the rot within" and that her loyalty remains with the people of Punjab rather than a "corrupt high command."

The new Party focuses on anti-corruption, women empowerment, promising a "scientific model" for crop diversification and agricultural debt relief that goes beyond traditional subsidies.

Dr. Sidhu expressed her openness to aligning with other like-minded and clean regional political parties, and specifically ruled out joining the AAP or the Akali Dal at this stage.

Her exit is seen as a blow to the Congress’s attempt to project a united front, especially in the Majha region. Besides, in the next Punjab Assembly elections on the horizon, the PSM could act as a "vote-cutter" or a kingmaker in a closely contested multi-cornered fight. When she was asked about her exit from Congress, she said that, "I was told to stay silent on the sale of Punjab's dignity. I chose to speak. Today, I am not just launching a party; I am launching a movement for the self-respect of every Punjabi," Dr. Sidhu stated during her inaugural address. The Party is also called Bharatiya Rashtrawadi Party for the national representation.
