Athani: The long-standing political rivalry in Belagavi between the "Sahukar" (Jarkiholi) and the Savadi-Kumathalli factions has reached a new boiling point. Speaking to the media in Athani today, former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi flatly denied rumors of MLA Laxman Savadi returning to the BJP and launched a scathing attack against him.
Booth-Level Discussions: Concern Among Workers
"There are ongoing discussions at the booth level regarding Laxman Savadi returning to the BJP. This has caused anxiety among our loyal workers. However, Savadi himself has not publicly stated anywhere that he will join the BJP. An atmosphere of lies has simply been created in the constituency," Jarkiholi remarked.
"Can We Forget What He Said About the High Command?"
Recalling the manner in which Savadi left the party, Ramesh Jarkiholi said, "The entire state knows how Savadi behaved when he quit the BJP. The remarks he made against the party and the central high command are unforgivable. There is no question of bringing such a person back into the party."
A Plea to the Workers
Appealing to the BJP cadre, he said, "I fold my hands and earnestly request our workers—Savadi will not join the BJP. If such a situation ever arises, we will respond as God guides us then. Under no circumstances will we allow Savadi to enter the BJP."
Prepare Now for the 2028 Elections
"Do not lose heart over rumors of Savadi’s return. Start preparing for the 2028 Assembly elections right away. Work hard to ensure the 'Lotus' blooms in Athani," Jarkiholi told his supporters. Ramesh Jarkiholi's explosive statement has sent ripples through Belagavi district politics, and it remains to be seen how Congress MLA Laxman Savadi will respond to these remarks.
