MANDYA: The high-handedness of toll staff on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway has crossed all limits. In a shocking incident, toll employees at the Gananguru toll plaza in Srirangapatna taluk brutally assaulted a youth over the minor issue of insufficient funds in his FASTag.

What Happened?

A youth named Mahesh was traveling along this route with his friends in a car two days ago. Upon reaching the Gananguru toll plaza, it was discovered that the car's FASTag balance was exhausted. At this point, Mahesh requested the staff to allow him to move the car back slightly so he could call someone he knew to get the account recharged.

Goon-like Behavior of Toll Staff

Lacking even the basic courtesy to listen to Mahesh’s request, the staff immediately began hurling abuses at him. As the argument escalated, the employees snatched Mahesh’s mobile phone and proceeded to chase and assault him. The sight of a group of staff members ganging up on a single individual has left onlookers horrified.

The visuals of this brutal assault on the youth were captured on a mobile phone and are now sparking massive outrage on social media. Citizens are questioning the way toll collectors behave with the public, asking, "Are these employees or rowdies?" Despite such incidents recurring on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway, there are complaints that the concerned authorities are not taking strict action. Currently, the victim has demanded justice, and it remains to be seen what action the police will take against these "goonda" employees.
