The scale of deletion has exceeding 5.58 crore voters across 12 states has triggered a massive political and legal debate regarding the accuracy of India’s democratic foundation. In UP the voters now in revised to 13.39 from previous 15.44 crores, amoun6ting to 13.23% of deletion. In WB, the revised voters are 6.77 crore against the previous 7.66 crore, amounts to 11.63% of deletion. Gujarat and Andaman have 13.39 and 16.86% of deletion respectively.

That makes overall figure of 10.55% of deletion from 12 states.

After a long span of time all electors were required to submit a new enumeration form. Failure to respond to notices resulted in automatic deletion. Significant numbers were discovered as shifted or not in existence. Duplicate and double entries were corrected, which was also blamed by opposition as backdoor NRC.

TMC and Congress have alleged that deletions outnumber the 2021 winning margins in at least 44 constituencies. But the Supreme Court ordered 700 judicial officers to oversee the verification of 60 lakh "disputed" voters in Bengal. As of April 9, over 27 lakhs of these were declared ineligible.
