The incident occurred at around 11:30 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026, in the Ranibagh forest area along the Mydukuru–Badvel road.

Earlier on Friday, the accused, Venkatesh, a resident of Anjaneya Kotala village, allegedly entered the house of 16-year-old Keerthana in Agraharam, Khajipet mandal. After a massive protest by Keertana’s's family and local activists at the bus stand circle, the police quickly took Venkatesh into custody. Venkatesh was later rushed to government hospital under security for treatment. He is now out of danger but continues in judicial custody. The incident has brought in the horror in the village and the villagers are demanding for the justice to Keertana.
