'Idli-Sambar' Chaos at Chinnaswamy: CSK Files Official Complaint to BCCI Against RCB!

Adding fuel to the fire, RCB shared a video on their social media handles featuring their wicketkeeper-batsman, Jitesh Sharma, singing the same song. This move drew massive backlash from CSK fans.

The high-voltage clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has sparked a fresh controversy off the field. The CSK franchise has expressed strong displeasure over a specific song played during the match and the behavior of the stadium DJ, leading to an official complaint filed with the BCCI.

What is the Controversy About?

In the match held on April 5, CSK suffered a defeat against RCB by 43 runs. However, more than the match result, it is the repeated playing of the song "Dosa, Idli, Sambar, Chutney" inside the stadium that has become the center of the storm.

The Troll Song: Originally by Gana Appu, this song is frequently used on social media to mock opponents.

The Jitesh Sharma Video: Adding fuel to the fire, RCB shared a video on their social media handles featuring their wicketkeeper-batsman, Jitesh Sharma, singing the same song. This move drew massive backlash from CSK fans.

Key Reasons for CSK’s Objection

The Chennai management has cited more than just the song in their complaint, highlighting the DJ's conduct:

Derogatory Comments: CSK’s primary allegation is that the stadium DJ made personal and derogatory remarks against their players over the loudspeaker.

Violation of Sportsmanship: CSK argued that while it is natural for home DJs to support the local team, insulting the opposition team crosses the line of professional conduct.

"DJs are meant to support the home team, not disparage opposition players. We have written to the BCCI requesting an investigation into the comments made against our players at the Chinnaswamy Stadium."

— Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of CSK

What’s Next?

Following the complaint by CSK, the IPL Governing Council has taken note of the matter. According to a senior BCCI official, the case is being taken seriously and is currently under review. While banter and memes are common among fans on social media, such incidents occurring officially inside the stadium have now sparked a heated debate regarding stadium decorum and the spirit of the game.
