Hubballi-Bound Fly91 Flight Diverted to Bengaluru After Technical Snag Causes 4-Hour Ordeal

Witnessing the violent shivering of the plane and the pilot's desperate struggle to regain control, passengers were left distraught.

HUBBALLI: A major aviation disaster was narrowly avoided after a flight traveling from Hyderabad to Hubballi lost control mid-air due to a technical snag. Passengers on board spent nearly four hours in the shadow of death as the aircraft struggled to stabilize. The ordeal finally ended when the flight made a safe emergency landing at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, allowing everyone to breathe a sigh of relief.

What Happened?

On Sunday, at 3:00 PM, a Fly91 Airlines flight (Flight No. IC3401 - ATR 72 Turboprop) took off from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, bound for Hubballi. The flight was scheduled to land at Hubballi Airport by 4:30 PM.

However, as the aircraft approached Hubballi, a technical malfunction occurred. The flight reportedly went out of the pilot's control, experiencing sudden fluctuations in speed and altitude. Due to these technical complications, landing at Hubballi Airport became impossible.

Four Hours of Aimless Circling

After failing to land in Hubballi, the aircraft circled the skies for nearly four hours. The plane continued to hover over areas including Mundgod, Davanagere, and Shivamogga. Anxiety among passengers reached its peak as the pilot struggled to find a safe window to land the troubled aircraft.

Passengers Send 'Final Farewells' to Families

Witnessing the violent shivering of the plane and the pilot's desperate struggle to regain control, passengers were left distraught. Many inside the cabin were in tears, folded their hands in prayer, and sought divine intervention. Believing they might not survive, several passengers even sent "Final Messages" to their family members via mobile phones. Eyewitnesses described the atmosphere inside the cabin as absolutely terrifying.

Safe Landing in Bengaluru

Ultimately, thanks to the pilot's exceptional presence of mind and heroic efforts, the aircraft was safely landed at Bengaluru Airport around 7:30 PM. As soon as the wheels touched the tarmac, passengers broke down in tears of joy, relieved to have escaped the jaws of death.
